**連鎖的エンボリズム**

[[c:cavitation|キャビテーション]]の発生は木部の水ポテンシャルに依存し、葉への水の輸送速度を低下させる。このため蒸散速度が十分に低下しない状況では、[[c:cavitation|キャビテーション]]の発生が葉の水分状態を悪化させると木部の水ポテンシャルが低下して[[c:cavitation|キャビテーション]]が拡大する。すると茎の[[h:hydraulic_conductivity|通水度]]の低下により葉の水分状態はさらに悪化し、、、と連鎖的に[[e:embolism|エンボリズム]]が深刻化していく現象。
